To the right are examples of student work from a 3 hour summer workshop which took place on the Colorado State University campus. The lesson introduced a group of 60 middle schoolers to digital fabrication. We toured the CSU FabLab, explored the 3D printer, woodshop machinery and the laser cutter. The students created 2 layered prints using a manipulated photo of themselves, which they took during the class. They then created a first layer monoprint with markers and acrylic plates while the photo images were being cut into printable plates. The photo plates were then added as the second layer to their monoprints. The results were fantastic!
